Inter west Coast Company Limited has acquired farmland in the Central Region of Ghana to be used for the following purpose:
- To create an extensive farming project and facility readily at the disposal of experienced Vietnamese experts. Ghanaian Agriculture Social Assistance Groupings that have contacted Inter West Coast Company Limited to use our company as one of the model farms by which they will offer technical and Agronomic support as the means by which they will assist in their small way to build Ghana’s Agriculture base
- To assist local farmers with lands and farm inputs to cultivate various crops under the project scheme
- To establish and train people to fabricate and build farming machinery, and repair these with assistance from the Vietnamese technical assistance
- To establish agro – processing industries for processing crops cultivated by adding value for both local and export markets
- To train, develop and build capacity of farmers, including youth groups, women’s groups’ etc thereby providing employment. Inclusion of Vietnamese extension officers and experienced farmers to the farms to train farmers
The Project Concept
The following are the Agricultural projects which Inter West Coast Company Limited is about to embarked upon:
- Short term: Under this, investments in the project will produce results and will be used as pilot projects for emulation in the immediate districts
- Medium term: This is envisaged to be the next 3 to 5 years. Within this period the growth and extensions of the project will have reached many communities in the country
Major Crops for Cultivation
The main crops to be cultivated for the short term and medium term are
- Maize or Corn: White maize will cultivated for human consumption and yellow corn for the animal husbandry sector
- Vegetables for local markets
- Cabbages
- Garden eggs
- Carrots
- Spring onions
Aqua Culture
The following fish species to be farmed with technology from Vietnamese
The construction of a dam on the farm for the purpose of farming
- Tilapia
- Panganis
- Fresh water shrimps
- Clams
Animal Husbandry
on a small scale, Inter West Coast Company Limited has initiated animal husbandry with the intention of producing:
Cattle: to be reared, confined and fed with special hay.
Piggery: To be introduced in the short – term
Poultry: To be also be introduced in short term
Crocodile farm: This will also be tried under a dam system in the short run
Agro – Processing
The produce of Inter West Coast Company Limited farms and that of the out growers will be processed and marketed both locally and for export, considering post – harvest losses after every season in Ghana.
